J'adore Pâtisseries

There is place in Chicago where the air smells like chocolate; it is near the Hershey factory and when you drive or walk there chocolate smells waft lazily over the usual Windy City smells. Walking along the streets of Corbeil, a town outside Paris, I smelled the fresh bread and desserts of the pâtisserie before I saw it. The modest store front of the pâtisserie gave way to a quaint space where croissants beurre, decadent mille feuilles and other Parisian desserts tempt the palate. It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful the food is in France, as though each meal is being served to royalty. Every plate that has been presented before me has looked as though the aesthetic of the dish had been planned before hand. Consider this post my homage to the délicieux food of France.

"Everything ends this way in France--everything. Weddings, christenings, duels, burials, diplomatic affairs--everything is pretext for a good dinner"-- Jean Anouilh
