The Things We Carry

I was flipping through a magazine the other day and came across one of those 'things I carry' sections where they empty out a high profile person's purse and look at the contents. I love things like these because the things we carry tell a lot about the person we are; take a look at the old MTV show, Room Raiders. I won't go so far as to say that show was good because, let's be honest, most MTV reality shows are entertaining because they are just that bad. Yet, Room Raiders did catch my attention because the contents of one's room, purse or (in this case) drawer can be very telling. Today I opened my drawer and here's what I saw; a collection of items that are testaments to my personality and of course PR, the field in which I work.

Take a look for yourself...

  • Papyrus Greeting Cards: I love that personal touch and for media contacts that pick up a pitch I think a handwritten card can go a long way. Not to mention, it's great to have cards on handy for co-worker's birthdays, holidays, etc.
  • Cover Girl 24hr Mascara and Benfit High Beam: I;m a last-minute girl and more often than not I am at the office looking exactly how I did when I woke up. Thankfully, I'm usually the first one in and a sweep of mascara and high beam takes my tired face and gives it an instant perk so I can at least pull off the whole morning person look when my boss gets in.
  • Swedish Fish: I'm a snacker and Swedish fish is my attempt to snack on something 'fat-free.' Note that all the red fish are gone..this means these reject fish will probably be sitting here awhile.
  • Can of Soup: Sometimes days at the office are just too crazy to get lunch and I'm chained to my desk; with Fashion Week around the corner you better believe this is one of those times. A can of soup comes in handy at times like these.
  • Paris Notepad: I lived in France 3 months before I came to New York and not only did I bring back very fond memories of the country but I also came home with a wonderful French boyfriend in tow. It's all about the little things in life and when these Paris themed notes catch my eye I remember life abroad.
  • Essie Nude Nail Polish: My favorite nail color is blue but I bought this neutral color because at work ocean blue nails just don't cut it.
  • The Mysterious Silver Bag: This bag is from Sephora and houses every minor emergency fix I could need, from Aleve to a sewing kit, if this drawer had nothing but that bag I would probably be all set.
