Bitten by the Travel Bug

I've been bitten by the travel bug. It all started with the purchase of my upcoming flight to Cartagena, Colombia; after years of saying I would love to visit the country I was born; I finally went online and bought myself a round trip ticket to Cartagena for March. It shocked me how easy it was to plan this trip! This whole time I have fallen prey to the idea that traveling is an expensive luxury that is held off for the right timing, right paycheck and right circumstances. It wasn't until I booked that ticket to Cartagena did I realize there are two types of people in this world-the ones that sit at home making lists of dream vacations and the ones that go online and book their flights.

I don't pretend that traveling isn't an expensive endeavor but I will say that traveling is as expensive as we make it. Whether we opt to stay in a lavish resort vs. renting an apartment; whether we choose to travel on a Friday or opt for traveling mid-week, comes down to our own decisions.

I recently discovered the blogger, Nomadic Matt, an ordinary guy who did a rather extraordinary thing-he quit his job 6 years ago to travel the world and write about it. His risky move was not funded by parents, trust funds, a huge salary or loads of savings; instead he embarked on his journey armed with confidence and a set of savvy traveler skills that are applicable for everyone to use.

At the end of the day, the ultimate cliché rings true-life is short and none of us can afford to wait for the perfect time to do anything.
